Today, we're shining a light on Independence Boulevard Christian Church, a pillar of hope in Kansas City's Historic Northeast neighborhood, which is in urgent need of help to repair its sagging floors.

A Community in Need

For over a century, Independence Boulevard Christian Church has been a sanctuary of support, providing food, clothing, and a sense of community to countless individuals. Every Monday night, the church serves 700 meals to those in need, with the help of volunteers from diverse faiths and backgrounds. However, the floor outside the kitchen has become dangerously unstable, threatening the safety of everyone who walks through its doors.

Pastor Mindy Fugarino shared, “The floor is not safe for us to be walking on or standing on. If I were to press my foot really hard right here, it would go right through at this point.” The damage has spread rapidly, and temporary plywood coverings are no longer sufficient.

The Urgent Repair

The church needs to raise $14,000 to repair the floor and ensure it remains a safe and welcoming space for all. Despite their tireless efforts and the support of a small congregation, they cannot cover this cost alone. The community they serve is diverse, with volunteers and recipients coming from all walks of life, and the impact of this repair will be felt by many.
